It's not about desiring sex, it's about desiring the punishment of women who don't want to have sex with them.
The rejection is desirable in that sense, because it allows them to rationalize their core desire to enact violence against conventionally attractive women.

Adding to this, it’s also that they feel they should have access to the women of their choosing without changing. Many incels have sexual opportunities they turn down because they want women who don’t want them. That the woman doesn’t want them is a condition of their desire.
And just to add a bit more to this, the reason incel white supremacist-style misogynists haven't tried to get laid by not being terrible is... they resent the very suggestion that they should have to.
