We spent the morning doing car and compartment fires for some NSW Police forensic trainees. I hope they got as much out of it as I did - it’s always good to don the BA and get some practice in.

Watching these expensive yachts on the harbour at Hvar makes me realise that there is a class of wealth so far above what I know as to be in a different solar system.

Back in Geneva for the first time in 7 yrs and I immediately feel at home. It felt like home when we lived here, and despite so many years continues to feel like home.

It was overcast for our arrival into Geneva. Although I was initially disappointed to lose the view of ‘home’, the sight of snowy peaks poking through the cloud cover was beautiful.

Today I’ve finally admitted to myself a truth that’s been creeping up on me for some time. Since Molly left us 16 months ago, my world is dimmer. It’s like the colours of life have washed away, and the light has gone.

It’s 5 years since I drove into Nerida with an ACTRFS striketeam just ahead of the firestorm hitting the village. The residents had retreated to the pub, and the main thing was that the pub was protected. The worst thing was hearing the screams of trapped animals.
