Stubbs and the Wild review – a radical world vision seen through animal eyes
Terrified horses, playful leopards, anxious lemurs … the 18th-century painter’s acute observation and compassion are vividly present in this impactful show

Right, that's it. I am hoping a quiet weekend beckons. We'll see. 23/fin

On balance I still prefer the stuff from before the rhythm section left to beciome Ramesses and some other stuff. But I love how Oborn clearly does not care where his interests take him. This is important. /22
November 7, 2025 at 7:10 PM
But I have just finished "Come My Fanatics", a very Oborn-friendly biography of Electric Wizard, and was listening to a lot of their music while listening, and felt I should download something additional to say 🤘 /21
November 7, 2025 at 7:10 PM
It's actually, probably because of Jus Oborn's fractured relationship with record labels (think John Lee Hooker, only DOOM), quite hard to get Electric Wizard material on Bandcamp. /20
November 7, 2025 at 7:10 PM
And lastly I purchased "L.S.D.", a single by Electric Wizard that is taken from a fan-inspired concept film called "Lucifer's Satanic Daughter". Available for $3.33. witchfinderrecords.bandcamp.com/track/l-s-d /19

I also downloaded the full-length debut from South Korean sludgelords GAWTHROP, for the reasons that I have previously elucidated - that if Korean culture is going to take over the world it needs a bit of sludge in it. sentientruin.bandcamp.com/album/kuboa /18

It could be like when I had been listening to the demo versions of all the songs on The Brought Low's first album for obscure early mp3 blog reasons and then I downloaded the final version in FLAC and didn't like it as much /17
November 7, 2025 at 7:10 PM
Why did I buy the FLACs? Idle curiosity, I guess. The vinyl and the rip I made of the vinyl are both pretty rudimentary. I wonder what a high fidelity version is like/ 16

I mean the US version is also no longer worth a vast amount. Part of Speedo's service to the kids, I hope. www.pettediscographies.com/rftc/rftcE.php /15

Also the shortest. Also the rarest. Also a record I already own on vinyl, having purchased a poorly-labelled copy of the Elemental Records European release. Which is not as valuable as the US pressing. www.discogs.com/release/1817... /15

Anyway, going back to owning multiple formats, I decided to download the FLACs for Rocket From The Crypt's "Hot Charity", which every household should also own. One of three v. good 1995 releases from RFTC. And as Allmusic says, probably the best. /14

The Discogs link I have sent you to is not that of the latest pressing, which is a blue-grey/brown splatter on white. I am doing that thing where I wait for someone else to put in the hard Discogs yards and get the version listed. Not sorry. /13

Love every single song on this album, but I particularly like stomping around in supermarkets to their "Godzilla" cover imagining I am a giant killer lizard. This record rules. Every household should have it. On multiple formats. /12

And lastly upon my doorstep this very day arrived a copy of Fu Manchu's "Godzilla's / Eatin' Dust +4", which in my humble opinion is the greatest heavy music album ever.

Bought the last Emahoy Tsegue Maryam Guebrou album, "Souvenirs", because I got a bit carried away on eBay. It had been on my Bandcamp wishlist for a while, though. I am sure I will appreciate its calming effect.

The Steak album I mentioned the other day arrived. I like the tunes, and the sound, which is a bit post-metal. Sounds a bit like Boss Keloid. bsky.app/profile/nelt... /8
It's "Acute Mania" by Steak. Who really deserve a better band name than that. Because they are really catchy, and a little bit post metal. And this album cover is amazing. /7 steakmusic.bandcamp.com/album/acute-...

Insomniac's "Om Moksha Ritam" I'm still pondering. It's a lot more earthbound than I'd hope, but quite catchy. I think I like it more that the Goya record (another Postwax release)
