I agree that numbered scores are stupid and shallow, but I'm definitely going to refer to a reviewer that I trust to see if the game has huge issues that we couldn't see in trailers. Outside of Steam's 2 hour return window, blindly buying games can easily result in a waste of time and money.

How is making a sequel to an unfinished and popular horror IP taking chances? If anything, that's the safe option that we know people are still interested in because of how popular the Dead Space 1 remake was.

The way I see it, people make mods to "remix" souls games all the time. This is just an official "remix" which I think is fine! There are people who still play Elden Ring who were looking for more to the game anyway 🤷🏽♂️
