It was a bit of a sobering day today as we visited Westerbork. More than one hundred thousand Jews & Roma were transported from Westerbork to concentration and extermination camps. (Anne Frank was one of those who left Westerbork never to return to the Netherlands.)

I’ve been away so I may have missed the HEATED RIVALRY posts on #BookSky when the TV adaptation aired a few days ago, but the author’s words are spot on. Romance genre is disrespected. Romance readers are disrespected. Romance writers are disrespected. It’s a billion dollar industry. Respect it. 🌶️📚💙

I truly don't think I've ever watched anything that felt this much like reading a high-heat romance. So just for the level of respect he's given to me, to my characters, to what I do... it's hard to even come up with words for the appreciation I feel because what I do is largely dismissed by a lot of people and I've found over the years I've had to defend my writing and my genre. My review of TIME TO SHINE by Rachel Reid is posted SG/IG. Landon is sent to the NHL when a back-up goalie is injured. He & his new teammate Casey quickly become friends. The friendship turns into love & they struggle when Landon’s sent back to the minors. Each has issues, but it’s a kind book. 🌶️📚💙

Max is asked to do some investigating, but as the team looks into it, it may be darker than they imagined. ⚡️📚💙

My review of FUN AT PARTIES by Jamie Harrow is on IG/SG. Quinn is a spin instructor who’s been humiliated by her ex. When a ride ends with her perky persona gone, her boss insists on time off. This is a “romance,” but as with her 1st book it’s so much more. Jamie Harrow’s great! READ HER BOOKS!

My review of THE FRIEND ZONE by Abby Jimenez is on IG/SG. This is a romance novel about infertility, friendships, and grief. I’ve read some Abby Jimenez books I’ve really enjoyed, but this bordered on trauma porn. It’s an important topic, but it was inconsistent in several ways. Too bad.
