Yes! I was closeted for most of my life, and as soon as I let go of the « right way » of doing stuff, I experienced love. A lot of guys have internalized that single=inferior, which makes them demand a partner. They don’t realize that you could be single forever and still be a worthy human being.

As a lesbian, I also went through a miserable bachelorhood, so I’m sympathetic. The problem is straight men blame the misery on the the other sex, but I think there isn’t enough focus on how economically dire it is to be single nowadays regardless of sex. Singleness should not be so impoverishing.

Yeah I agree with that assessment so I’ll be more specific: if he’s hallucinating, he is having symptoms of disordered thinking, but he’s not someone who had a severe mental illness from the beginning and went on a murder spree; from a literary standpoint he’s experiencing the human condition

I loved this book🩷🩷🩷 I normally do not read straight romances. I loved the dynamic between the protagonists (strong woman / gentle man) and hope you’ll write more because literally no one else is (which is probably why I don’t read het lol)

I’m going off scant evidence but the author wrote a previous book where the paranormal event was left ambiguous. Plus, the whole premise of the Cabinet of Dr. Caligari is that the somnambulist imagined it all and is in an asylum. Since they keep referencing it, it made me suspicious

My verdict is that Valentina’s ending was superior. I also believe that the thin kid killed new thin kid, but most of that end scene is a hallucination
