To their friends and loved ones -- Fanimal was a kind and friendly beacon for many of us who came to the fat fur fandom in the early days. Their work and holding space helped many of us understand more about ourselves, to feel less alone, to not feel so strange. It is a legacy to be proud of.

Found that Fanimal has passed away a month ago. I did not know them well personally, and this isn't a post asking for condolences for me, but I do want to speak to the profound effect they have had in our community and for being someone who made the space for it to exist as fully as it does now.

So...are more than a select few people actually going to use Mastodon after all or is that not happening neither?
I knew BlueSky had already begun just feeling like Twitter 2 but dang, they really are speed-running how to lose the goodwill they got.

At some point, shaudenfreud took people I cared for so much that I remembered the names of the politicians they dunked on more than their own real names.
