You know, as a PR pro I’m fascinated by the political theater of it all. The timing, the messaging. It’s clunky and a little ham fisted, sure. But as a US citizen, fucking YIKES. Trump sure has his brand figured out, just unfortunate that that brand is “dictator but nacho cheese flavor.”

I know it’s been a steady push towards this for years. The tyranny of it all. But the bullet to the back of the skull of free speech as we head into the dystopian nightmare of a second term Trump regime is just… a smidge on the nose even for a dictatorship hard launch.

Just a reminder of some of the context around the TikTok ban: In 2020, Trump tried to ban it via executive order a couple months after K-pop fans used it to organize fake signups to Trump’s Tulsa rally, which led him to publicly overestimate how large the crowd size would be.

Some absolute bullshit dirty cutting off TikTok at 10:30 pm EST on the 18th with a message boot licking Trump at the same time.

100 yrs ago I was very much a “tweet my every passing thought” kind of person. Is this my year (or four) to return to that? I guess we’ll see.
