This is my last book of 2024. A novel about a woman who's best friend - a politician's wife - has two step-children who randomly & frequently catch fire. Unexpectedly pacy, complex & emotional. I took a risk on this but it paid off in full.

I have read 116 books in 2024 not for work. There have been so many I have enjoyed or loved but these are the ones which clawed their way into my heart & which I'd foist on anyone and everyone.

My first foray into reading outside of my comfort zone with Hitchikerd Guide to the Galaxy. Obvs this is just my opinion as someone who is trying to broaden their reading experience. No shade intended.

If you have not read this memoir I implore you from the bottom of my heart to do so. It is the kind of book that not only reminds me why I want to work with authors, but how stories can truly save lives as well as change them.

"I was sitting in a taxi, wondering if I had overdressed for the evening, when I looked out the window and saw Mom rooting through a Dumpster." The opening line grabbed me & the rest of the book held me. This may be nearly 20x years old but it's power does not wane.

Extremely late to this party but so glad I succumbed. Perfect love story for these cold and wintry nights & I can't stop thinking about Rose & Will. @ClaireDaverley is a wonderful writer. 💔
