Left-ish; social responsibility; politics and international relations; labradors; literature and history.
If anyone's unsure about the direction of Trump's agenda, have a read of the new National Security Strategy: "European Union . . . censorship of free speech"; "Cultivating resistance to Europe’s . . . trajectory"; "Encouraging Europe to . . . combat mercantilist overcapacity".

Can't get my head around how elected officials making such comments are allowed to remain in post. Regardless of any apologies, surely the values that underpin the comments are still there and which questions their ability to function impartially.

Wouldn't it be great if the journalist replied something like "You're a much worse president than I am a journalist"
November 19, 2025 at 5:31 AM
That has as about as much merit and credibility as Farage on GBNews.

Ah! That must be because *he* has all the talent: him, he holds all the talent that exists everywhere all the time; nobody has ever held all the talent as well as him in the history of all the history.

Good, and about time; a waste of money that compromised independence of political bias.
November 13, 2025 at 2:25 PM
Absolutely, and I think those three have triggered a tidal wave of the populist right that are gradually normalising this kind of thing. And it seems to be working in exactly the same way as Goebbels' planned in the 1930s.

It is disgraceful, and I genuinely believe those of us who see that are in the majority; unfortunately, the hard-right voices seem to be considered more newsworthy and prioritised by the media gate-keeping criteria.
November 11, 2025 at 8:01 PM
Yes, it really does.

Don't know if others have the same anxieties about the direction the world is going, but the relative post-war peace seems quite precarious. Trump's taken America from hegemonic leadership to outright, aggressive dominance, with the military attacking non-military targets with impunity.
November 11, 2025 at 6:37 PM
Good. The wealthiest, most powerful country in the world has become an autocracy that operates via dysphemism, replacing international diplomacy with self-serving transactional politics, and has led military attacks on non-military targets of another country with absolute impunity.

" . . .so blinkered . . ." A deeply ironic criticism coming from the likes of Ferrari.🙄
November 11, 2025 at 8:41 AM
Absolutely👏
November 10, 2025 at 7:43 PM
" . . . snivelling along like the school-bully-errand-boy that he is. Traitorous little bastard." 🤣 That's perfect👏 And yes, at the end of the day, a decision-making error, but it doesn't change the thrust of Trump's speech, given his numerous references to civil unrest.
November 10, 2025 at 7:42 PM
Self-referential, hyperbole-driven I-ended-8-wars man uses fake news to accuse the BBC of fake news.
November 9, 2025 at 10:21 PM
I may make that into a flag to put on my local lamppost
November 4, 2025 at 9:59 PM
He's also way off with his "No one remotely serious believed . . ." because many did and I think the current 'u-turn' is simply laying the groundwork for Reform's council-tax rises so they can attempt to lay the blame with the Government and the anticipated budget.
November 4, 2025 at 9:58 PM
The self-styled, so-called patriots use support for veterans as their rallying cry, so perhaps the way to turn Faragists is continued reminders about Churchill, and the Allies united against Facism. Churchill's vision was, after all, for a charter and court to oppose and prevent totalitarianism.

More like 'party before, well anything else, really'
November 3, 2025 at 12:05 PM
Completely understand the situation. EHCP funding never covers the cost of employing another TA and the more high-need EHCPs the more TAs needed and ever more taken from the school's budget.
November 3, 2025 at 10:13 AM
I think there's a future PhD for psychology / economics / politics graduates around how Farage can criticise and run down the UK whilst maintaining unfettered and staunch support from particular demographics.
November 3, 2025 at 9:58 AM
I think your last sentence is the point, or at last, it doesn't have to have any real economic plausibility: it simply needs vague references to tax cuts / pseudo-doge-type unrealistic savings / what the last Government/s have done wrong and disingenuous references to 'working / ordinary' people.
November 3, 2025 at 9:54 AM
"reptile" 🤣 so apt👏
November 3, 2025 at 9:47 AM
I don't think any of his speeches are intended to have real substance (and we know they don't, of course) and are simply a method of maintaining a media presence, with perhaps a bit of a nod to his wealthy backers.
November 3, 2025 at 9:45 AM
Absolutely. Unfortunately, Farage has managed to reinforce so completely his supporters' confirmation bias: it's an old tactic, but the persistent repetition via all available channels has turned his lies and rhetoric into their "truth."
