Swing Girls. It’s hard to track down, you may need to use YouTube, but it is absolutely worth it. Japanese film about lazy, delinquent schoolgirls getting into jazz. It’s one of the best comedies I’ve seen while also being heartwarming.

I’d just never use Threads because of it being owned by Meta, which assures its fate as a digital hell.

How do you enforce that when the large majority of AI writing is not reliably detectable? I wouldn’t mind zero tolerance policies, but I find it creates an unequal playing field where honest students are at a disadvantage, and students who break the policy almost never have enforceable consequences.

Early ticket sales are apparently very strong. I’m fully prepared for this to somehow make a billion dollars.

Beverly. Italian grapefruit rind soda. Abhorrent. Foul. Found at World of Coke in Atlanta.

I love when people do that with regard to an entire field, like it’s important that you sell them on the idea of a concept.

Not sure what that would look like. Unlike, say, Nestle, Tesla is a very specialized product. People who would be willing to boycott would never buy one anyway. People who would buy one are unlikely to care. Boycotts are difficult to make work, and Tesla doesn’t seem particularly vulnerable to them.

I like writing on Christmas honestly. Nice quiet time to get work done.

The big difference is that it’s only partially speculative, and that it’s having major, concrete impacts on more things than most people realize. Plenty are negative and plenty are positive. It’s very hard to predict what the consequences of AI tools will be in even one or two years.

I saw a black squirrel for the first time while at the Syracuse zoo. Majestic.

It’s a godawful train station. The overall experience is consistently poor.

Hannibal Lecter is honestly the most mischaracterized here, probably by people largely unfamiliar with the character. He would never.

I’ve always liked self-report. While imperfect, people have a decent idea of their own thoughts and experiences most of the time.
