Yeah, FFT has a surprising number of pitfalls in builds if you don't know what you're doing. I always saw T.G. Cid as a character to ensure you can beat the game if you messed up your builds, or are still having trouble with the game, kind of like how Fire Emblem does it with characters like Athos.
