After years of increasing pressure, the Latvian government has begun issuing orders for the longtime Russian residents who have failed to learn Latvian to leave the country. A handful have been deported, hundreds have simply left, while up to 1,000 mostly elderly Russian speakers wait in limbo.

Thank you for the piece. One thing that puzzles me - what does "definitively smash[ing] the “European order”" look like as an outcome? Occupation of multiple territories, including large ones? Puppet regimes? Something else? Seems v hard to envisage as sustainable?
