According to Princeton a couple states rank worse than Illinois. Florida got a "F" rating for all 3 categories (congressional, house, senate).

How on earth was it to "feed one man's ego", when it was a plan put together by the military and the previous presidential administration? It had been in the works.

That would require a bunch of legislation from Congress. I'm all for universal healthcare but most of Congress is not. Did you vote in a representative and a senator that support universal healthcare? No?

3) Good incremental stuff on healthcare and prescriptions. Expanded the Affordable Care Act. Allowed Medicare to negotiate prescription prices with pharma. Implemented an annual cap on out-of-pocket prescription costs for seniors and disabled. Capped insulin costs for seniors.

2) Navigating us out of a pandemic and global inflation crisis without triggering a recession (a soft landing that not many economists thought was possible)

1) Look up the contents of the Inflation reduction Act, the Bipartisan infrastructure law, and the CHIPS act. Those three pieces of legislation alone contain a laundry list of accomplishments too long to list in one tweet

Think the underlying cause of both 1) Republican business owners' donations to Cory and 2) Gainey smear campaign about the donations is the same.

Which is: polling shows Corey is well ahead of Gainey.

Same reasoning Gainey had for Republicans donating to him in the general, but happening earlier.
March 4, 2025 at 4:59 PM
Re: policy and ideology, there's not drastic difference between Gainey and Corey. Money goes to who people think will win.

I guess I can understand national news being lazy and not verifying the candidates' ideology. But shouldn't our local news fact check the smear of Corey being secret Repub?
March 4, 2025 at 4:52 PM
It is crazy that national news outlets like the Guardian are putting out these kind of stories without doing due diligence and finding out that the Gainey campaign has previously gotten just as many or more donations from Republicans, including the same people named in the Guardian.

I literally just started playing Yakuza Kiwami (remake of Yakuza 1) yesterday. Played 0 last year, it's fantastic. Midnight Suns is also fantastic albeit extremely different.

The mention about 1920s and interwar era stuff is on point.

I also recommend recommend reading about the Know Nothing Party and the 1850s nativist movement in the US. It was literally MAGA before MAGA.

Eminem is inspired by battle rap. Has been for many years. That's where the real wordplay and the boundary pushing of the English language is happening.

Mirage is actually very good and people who miss the old style games should play it. You can get it for under $25 nowadays.

Any e-ink device (Kobo, Kindle, etc) will be less harsh on your eyes compared to a phone or tablet screen.

Sadly my favorite model (Kobo Libra 2) has been discontinued. Right now you can either get a Libra Color (more $ for useless color) or a Clara BW (cheaper, smaller screen, no side buttons).

Kobo is the best alternative to Kindle. Actually better, unless you're already locked in the Kindle ecosystem (past purchases, or a subscription).
