Birder and horse, goat and dog owner. Living on Wadawurrung land.
My Tawny Frogmouths haven't roosted in their usual trees since April, but it's good to know they're still around (and moulting).

Nominative determinism?

Here's another Acacia sp in flower. Google Lens can't quite decide what species but is sure it's a Wattle, possibly Golden Wattle, possibly Coastal Wattle, possibly Gossamer Wattle.

Trying to learn the species of the trees in my garden. I'm pretty sure this one is an Australian Blackwood (Acacia melanoxylon). When it's in flower, I get the worst hay fever: I'm allergic to my own home. Oh well.

Callistemon are all in flower. This is the best they've looked for a few years; they must've enjoyed the dry winter and spring. They are loud with bees and White-naped Honeyeaters.

Little Eagle, Mt Beckworth, Victoria, Australia. I saw a large bird land in a tree near a dam and squeezed through a very tight gap between a bush and an electric fence to get an ID. When I saw what it was, I went back to the car to get my camera and was happy to find it still there.

I have some beautiful trees on my property, very few of which I can identify. This one, I'm reliably informed, is a Southern Mahogany (Eucalyptus botryoides). It's currently flowering and full of New Holland Honeyeaters, Brown Thornbills and Grey Fantails.

I'm not very good at photographing birds in flight, but I'm quite pleased with these Whiskered Terns, taken at the Western Treatment Plant, Werribee last month. #ausbirds
