Hi Katie, Carlisle tends to get forgotten about, which is partly why it’s a great destination. It has history – castles, cathedrals, Henry VIII's Citadels – and modernity, lovely parks, etc. I live here, so I have intimate knowledge of its Historic Quarter; I'm a photographer as well as a writer.

Are corpse roads those which no longer exist due to realignment, renaming or regeneration?

The question is, will Bluesky's current popularity endure, or will people get disillusioned by the relative lack of post engagement and sheepishly return to legacy social media?

What a shame we'll have so many contemporary entries for future historical books. The world feels more dangerous now than it has done in my lifetime.

Minus six in South Lanarkshire last night. Only made it to the M74 by following a late night gritter down country lanes. No snow, but the frost was certainly deep and crisp and even.

The decision to cull the Fiesta (the UK's best selling car at the time) to free up production lines for EVs looks more idiotic with every fall in market share. EV production has been halted just weeks after starting due to a lack of demand. That wouldn't have happened if Cologne still built Fiestas.

I'd suggest the Guardian can ill afford a strike right now, especially amid a rise in right-wing populism which increasingly places its editorial stance at odds with prevailing trends. I believe a lot of Guardian readers have already migrated to the Times, and more would follow if they strike.

Restaurant closures in the UK are currently at a ten-year high. I cannot see how doing away with parking has helped any retail or restaurant businesses. I constantly hear the exact opposite from retailers in particular, desperate for casual footfall and denied it by road closures and cycle lanes.

That's good, because I live in Carlisle (the English city, not the one in Pennsylvania) and it feels like I'm the only British person on Bluesky. At least if I'm now in Ohio I'll have some people to talk to - mainly about where Ohio is, and what (if anything) there is to do there.

The Chinese property market has almost become a Ponzi scheme in recent years, and the last thing it needs is more state-sponsored stimuli. Evergrande et al need a period of managed decline and financial rebalancing, not more artificial inflating by a country with other economic crises to attend to.

Ah, a voice in the void! Hi from a metal fan of 33 years' standing (ever since getting No Prayer For the Dying on cassette as a Christmas present in 1990). Is Bluesky worth bothering with?
