There is no other game like Void Stranger.

Necroface, I just think this card is very funny and resolving either effect is hilarious

Super Starslayer TY-PHON Sky Crisis is one of the cooler recent innovations in the game's design. Incredibly well designed card that can give you just one more option to keep playing!

Caius the Shadow Monarch is the greatest of the original monarchs. Incredibly powerful card for its time. Awesome artwork as well.

Mirror Force, an incredibly iconic card. In my opinion this card is an important piece of formats like Edison as a mechanism to punish overextension in a way that you can still reasonably play around!

Chaos Ruler the Chaotic Magical Dragon. I know he's a criminal and he deserved to be banned. But it's just such a fun card to play.

Big Welcome Labrynth is the card that makes Lab an interesting deck to play! It makes it easy to trigger the various effects of Lab cards and lets you dodge interaction or remove one of your opponents cards.

Dark Magician of Chaos is an incredibly powerful card with an often game-ending effect. I love both the artwork and the general play pattern involving this card.

Magician of Faith is one of the most powerful Flip monsters of the DM era. I just love recycling my power spells!

Kurikara Divincarnate - One of my favorite board breakers. It feels great to resolve and your opponent has to play into it, making it a little more interesting than a Lava Golem or a Kaiju.

Torrential Tribute, one of the quintessential traps that punishes your opponent for overextending. Incredibly powerful card historically, and still occasionally finds modern formats where it becomes relevant once again.

Maybe I'm a sicko for this one, but I have a lot of love for powerful flip effect monsters from the DM/GX era. And none of them are more representative of this than the one and only Fiber Jar. Extremely unique card with beautiful artwork and an absolutely unreasonable effect. But I love it.

Return from the Different Dimension is one of my favorite old-school payoffs. Everything from the incredibly strong effect to the artwork referencing tons of other cards from the era just speaks to me!

Dark Armed Dragon is THE card I think of when it comes to boss monsters. He's a constant looming threat over the entire game in the decks he was played in historically. This, to me, truly embodies what it is to be a boss monster.

Paleozoics are one of the coolest Trap strategies ever printed and I think Paleozoic Dinomischus is the one of the most powerful cards in the engine. Just a super fun way to play if you love grindy games with high interaction!

That Grass Looks Greener is unique card that emblematic of an interesting paradox of deckbuilding when it's present at a high rate. Do you go to 60 to counter or run Grass? Or do you play a lower count for higher consistency while leaving yourself vulnerable to Grass?

Pacifis, The Phantasm City is the primary enabler for the Phantasm Spiral strategy which provides a significant amount of advantage and powerful effects at the cost of being unable to use effect monsters.
November 16, 2024 at 6:06 PM
Fairy Tail - Luna is the center piece of a unique strategy called Luna Kaiju Control. I think this deck is super interesting and plays on a very unusual axis.

This may be a controversial one, but in my opinion, Kashtira Fenrir is a pretty well-designed card that provides a fair but powerful body & interaction when played as non-engine to many decks. I think it's much healthier than a card like Pankratops and it feels fair to play both with and against.

Another one of my favorite boss monsters, Rescue-ACE Turbulence. Setting 4 feels great and the games I played in this format felt super interactive and interesting!

In general, I do like Swordsoul, but going first it can be a little too linear. The real beauty of the deck comes from the flexibility when going second, and I think the card that represents this ability the most is Tenyi Spirit - Vishuda.
