A previous job had a second floor storage unit with this sort of elevator. It was fully manually operated (press and hold up to go up) and wouldn’t move with the gate open.

Sounds like Mr 10, and he has a huge appetite for it - just no avocado for him. Eats basically as much as I do and I just know it will be more than me soon.
