I make stuff. Mostly functional, occasionally shiny, stuff.
I've watched numerous debates with Dinesh - and to this very day I still wonder why people keep debating him. This guy is a pro athlete in mental gymnastics, nothing else.

That being said, I think that "experience-based" blogs (stories from the real world, not "how to" content) might be more interesting to write and read (for ppl - and less for for AIs).

imho one of the reasons (tech/how to) blogging has gotten a lot less exciting. You're providing content for AI that's being used to actively discourage users to visit your blog blog. yt also a big driver (which I sincerely don't understand because video-form code content isn't that great)

Das ist wohl "the art of the deal" von Trump wovon die Republikaner immer schwärmen.

1. Plan vorschlagen
2. Plan wird aufgrund von "de facto Kapitulation" abgelehnt
3. Warten und nix tun
4. Den exakt gleichen Plan nochmal vorschlagen, aber diesmal zur Zustimmung drängen

Wahrlich ein Meister

Considering what's happening in the US rn it seems like there's a lof of blind eyes involved 🥲

This sub is somewhat the epitome of "programmer elitism". Everyone's smarter than everybody, other opinions are bad by definition and whatever you do or think is bs. Someone there once told me they'd fire me because I like to use guard clauses 🤷‍♂️

Honestly didn't know about chatpgt being able to state sources. Tested it and it does that only on questions that demand sources. Asked it for "how imports work in rsc" and it gave me a detailed explanation - only after asking for sources it linked your blog. But it's better than nothing I guess 😅

Most recent @kurzgesagt.org video summarizes it pretty well: www.youtube.com/watch?v=_zfN... and they're a rather huge company that's already suffering from this. Making content even easier to scrape for AI has at least some kind of bad tone to it.

If by "ppl on other side of AI" you mean AI consumers - yes, but you (as an author) are essentially deleted from the equation. No acknowledgement, no revenue (without heavy paywalls), no nothing. You're essentially putting out your stuff for some AI company to steal it and use it - for their profit.

And not AI in general, just the way it is handled. Data is effectively stolen, Google AI search instead of redirecting traffic, tons of AI slop, ... This even discourages me from any kind of blogging (or most content creation) since I simply can't stand the idea to make content for an AI.

One additional thought: my biggest issue rn - next to (closed) social media - on the internet is AI. Building something atop an open protocol would make it even easier for AI companies to steal data. Not that closed socials solves this, but this kinda sours the idea atm (or I'm missing sth)

This analogy certainly worked for me - thanks!

Ok, got it, ty. One last thing: why atproto over ActivityPub? As far as I've understood these two so far, atproto requires you to self host a pds to prevent the dependency to bsky. Would be really interesting to build sth for the open web, but still a bit confusing atm 😅
October 7, 2025 at 11:24 AM
But this way discussions would require dynamic loading (no ssr), since every new discussion post would require a rebuild, right? Same for likes, etc.? And regarding index: why would I want that? Wouldn't indexing my own posts (at build time) be enough?
October 7, 2025 at 9:50 AM
Would a static blog - like overreacted - work with atproto?

You just don’t realize how impactful and important this is for the average citizen. Their life is better now. They might still can’t afford eggs- but who cares about hunger or such lowly desires when you can rename things?!

There’s a great post by Robotpencil titled “talent is earned”, which describes his transition from being a programmer to a concept artist by kinda brute forcing his way to being a good at art by spending countless hours on it. www.deviantart.com/robotpencil/...
