It's hard to *fully* blame Gibson given the defensive lapses leading to so many of these goals, but you really want the guy who should be your 1A goalie to make a few more of those into saves to bail out the team when that happens.

Like Lyon before him, like Husso before Lyon, like Nedeljkovic before Husso. Feels like yet another goalie who CAN make the big save, but just so often makes the saves expected and nothing more.

Talbot has been the only one who seems to be able to make a save he shouldn't more frequently.

I'm glad they have at least elevated themselves to scoring the first goal.

Felt like a litmus test game against one of the league's best, and I think they fared pretty well on the last game of a road trip. Not by any means perfect, but Gibson held his own and the pressure applied in the 3rd was intense.

If a similar pick had been traded for the kind of immediate help we need, then yeah, I could see being upset. That didn't happen. Nobody swooped in on an Andresson or Miller deal.

Probably better to have Bear in the system and move a (hopefully later) 2026 1st if needed to make a deal.

Marner 100 times out of 100 in that scenario. Bennet is really good, but even in a rising cap anyone paying 10 mil at 7 years has an immediate albatross on the books.

Especially with Keating retiring, you'd think there'd be an open spot for him to move up. Hopefully he joins Daniella on the Wings payroll in the same/a similar role.

I like Hockey Reference's adjusted goals list. Impossible to truly compare across such differing eras, but the formula they use takes a number of factors into account. Ovi and Gordie get a huge boost playing in lower scoring eras. Wayne's numbers drop a LOT.

Ovechkin has 65 ENG, Gretzky had 56. 1st and 2nd all time in the category.
