Im less bothered by the inclusion of Rie, her introduction was very subtle and I think we'll handled. It could've been effective foreshadowing if we weren't also given Tanaka. He's the brewing undercurrent beneath the character drama, a tense presence that suggests that things might get worse.

I dont think that Tanaka and Rie needed to be introduced this early. Theres a reason why they arent seen until later. Volume 1 naturally creates tension through the question of whether Yoshiki can truly overlook the reality that Hikaru isnt Hikaru— and suggest to us that he might be dangerous.

The first episode follows the story and style of Chapters 1 & 2 pretty linearly. I never suspected they'd adapt the Manga verbatim, but for some reason the writers decided to introduce us to characters who arent even seen until vol. 2~3 in a montage between character building scenes.
