Do you ever study history? Do you know anything about how the government currently provides nutrition assistance? Do you know of the restrictions on certain types of foods that are not eligible for such assistance?

My friends who live in Europe and Australia are not renewing their visas for Trumplandia for the duration. It is our loss. They like to come here, spend money, enjoy themselves and then go home. Now they are planning trips to anywhere but here.

In the Stalin era, all Russian food was controlled by the government and there were huge shortages of everything, people had to stand in long lines to even get a loaf of bread. Of course, the system was totally corrupt.

When I was a kid my mother would get a box of government food from time to time. My cousins would use the government cheese for fish bait and we ate the fish they caught. My mom would pick mushrooms and wild greens, too.

That's the problem, equitable distribution. A lot of cities encourage urban farming, mobile grocery trucks, farmers markets, food banks and tax breaks for brick and mortar food markets, run by small business people, many times residents of the communities they serve.

I remember my mother getting boxes of government supplied food from time to time. It was said to be surplus from WWII. It was pretty basic and the cheapest version of each item. No fresh items.

The rub is, the government would provide what the government wants you to have, not what you want or what is nutritionally sufficient and certainly no ethnically preferred foods. Think white flour, sugar, process cheese, canned potatoes, dried milk, etc. Sounds like Russia in the 1950's.

My response to them is always "What have you done to your face? You seemed like a lovely, normal person before you did that".

With so much of their activity conducted on "disappearing" channels, there will be a lot never discovered. But, the good news is that we are talking about this regime ending, so there is hope we will have a future.

Trump will never get rid of Bondi, he is dug in there. But we don't know what's around the corner.
