While I think there may be an element of that, particularly from the printed press, I think it is also to do with the shifting media ecosystem. I think the use of 'rage bait' is now common in an attempt to maintain shrinking audiences. Add to that poor and incompetent journalism, and voila.

I was brought with the Victor comic and Eagle. This sort of indoctrination was pretty thorough, add in Commando comic and the 1950s films. But if you travel and read your opinions can change.

She's come a hell of a long-way since you had her, saying something about your devotion and patience. But she has a little bit further to go yet.

This type of nonsense and other racist tropes have always been there in a part of the UK population, but not spoken out loud. But Brexit and the import of MAGA style politics has changed that. It needs addressing and shutting down. Most people do not believe this tripe.

I wonder whether this might be even be a subconscious bias, chasing a dwindling listnership of increasingly elderly middle class white people who have been radicalised by the traditional print media.

It's strange how the national newspapers with their shrinking readership seem to set the news agenda for the BBC's domestic news. The BBC seems to be chasing the same shrinking demographic and in the process appears to be losing it's reputation for impartiality.

Society has been hollowed out over decades, democracy reduced to performance, and solidarity was replaced by self-interest. We were sold the lie of meritocracy and the cult of individualism, and this is the end result.

Politics has become middle management for technocracy, and platforms turn the individual into both product and producer on their digital fiefdoms, feeding us whatever gets engagement to keep us hooked, with truth and accuracy being thrown in the waste bin.

As a pensioner I just read your latest book on the Stone Age and found it both educational, illuminating and most importantly entertaining. A concise easy to follow explanation of the latest archeological thinking. Excellent work!

Yes, whoever stacked those bales had no idea how to put on a load. You interweave them like bricks. The first time they move off at any speed they would lose half the load. I speak from experience helping my neighbour as a kid.

I'm sorry you feel that way, but please realise people of this viewpoint are a minority, but are very vocal and visible in legacy and social media.

Like a lot of the legacy media BBC news in the UK has gone down the click bate route. This is mirrored in their political shows which seem to have adopted a confrontational argument based model. Unbiased good old reporting seems to be losing out. I don't think this applies to the World Service.
