Querying Sci-fi/Fantasy/Horror author and emergency response worker.
I love dogs, books, hip-hop, spooky things, movies, video games, bartending, and people, in that order.
4 Books
4 Weeks
1 Amazing spooky season.
The Haunting of Hill House was my favorite, followed closely by Mexican Gothic and Carrie. And Slade House was great too.

31 Days of #Halloween #HorrorMovies Challenge Day 31: Halloween Day

Trick r Treat

The original Halloween is one of my favorite movies of all time. But I always love talking about how incredible Trick r Treat is. I watch both every year.

31 Days of #Halloween #HorrorMovies Challenge Day 29: William Castle

13 Ghosts

I haven't seen too many William Castle films, aside from The Tingler and House on Haunted Hill. But what an incredibly creative gimmick: making ghosts visible only to people wearing the glasses.

31 Days of #Halloween #HorrorMovies Challenge Day 28: Haunted House You Haven't Seen

The Entity

This has always sounded like a wild one for me. Never got around to seeing it.

31 Days of #Halloween #HorrorMovies Challenge Day 25: Pumpkin on The Poster

Wallace & Gromit The Curse of the Were-Rabbit

So it's a kids movie and all the victims are vegetables, but still it's in the genre. I caught this on a lazy Sunday and was shocked by how much I loved it. Now it's a favorite

31 Days of #Halloween #HorrorMovies Challenge Day 25: Feels Like a Fairytale

Pan's Labrynth

This is the third day where the obvious answer was "The People Under The Stairs" But there are a lot of good horror movies that feel like fairy tales. Midsommar, The Witch, The Village, The Shape of Water..

31 Days of #Halloween #HorrorMovies Challenge Day 23: Mad Science

The Fly

Disgusting, disturbing, and so much fun to watch. Another film I got disturbing glimpses of as a kid, but grew to appreciate as an adult.

Just finished Mexican Gothic and I loved it. That's 3 horror books this October. Looks like I need to stop by the bookstore and see if I can find at least one more before spooky season is over. #Books #HorrorBooks #WritingandBooks

31 Days of #Halloween #Horror Challenge Day 20: Famous Jupscare

The Gift

Many great jumpscares in movies. There are ones in Sinister, The Exorcist 3, The Ring, The Grudge, Jaws, Alien... etc. But this movie, which isn't even a horror movie, delivered one of the most effecive jump scares I've seen

31 Days of #Halloween #Horror Challenge Day 18: Wet Ghosts

The Ring or Ringu

It's one of the few times both the original and the American remake are great. Either is with the watch.

31 Days of #Halloween #Horror Challenge Day 12: Shudder Original

Host

More should see this incredible film made during the COVID shutdown. The movie takes place over a Zoom call, and the actors literally did their roles separately as lockdown was in place. Great scares, inventive storytelling.

Just finished the Haunting of Hill House. Fantastic, unsettling, and tragic. Next up is Mexican Gothic.

31 Days of Halloween Horror Challenge Day 10: Masters of Horror

John Carpenter

Halloween and The Thing are 2 of my favorite movies of all time. But he also brought us Escape from New York, They Live, Prince of Darkness, and In the Mouth of Madness.

31 Days of Halloween Horror Challenge Day 6: Sequel you haven't seen yet

Halloween 6: The Curse of Michael Myers

The original Halloween is one of my favorite movies. I was also a fan of Halloween 4 and Jamie Lloyd as a character. But when I heard what they did to her in this movie, I didn't watch.

31 Days of Halloween Horror Challenge Day 5:Paranormal Investigation

Sinister

One of the most common horror stories. I could have picked any of the Conjuring or Insidious movies. But I still think Sinister is something truly special, and it created a unique and incredible villain.

Already finished Slade House. Next, I'm reading The Haunting of Hill House. A classic that I've somehow never read. I wonder how many horror books I can get through this October. #HorrorBooks

My first horror movie is either Jurassic Park, Jaws, or Child's Play, depending on whether you consider Jurassic Park and Jaws horror movies or adventure films.

My biggest takeaway from the OceanGate documentary is how desperately we need more protections for whistleblowers. If we can't offer them any protections from all the SLAPP Suits, then how can we expect people to come forward?

If the earliest critics weren't sued into silence they'd still be alive.

Day 29: All-Star Superman

Always loved this cover because comic book artists generally make their characters look stylish, intimidating, or cool. But Superman is so peaceful here. An unstoppable being doesn't need to look fierce. Such a great display of his character. #Booksky #Writingcommunity
