Once again the preview image doesn't come through with the post link. I have no idea why sometimes it works and other times it doesn't. Here's what was supposed to go up with the link.

Not the best rendering of her likeness, but it's the thought that counts. Happy Birthday, my Queen. (7 Sept 1533) #Shakespeare #EarlofOxford #QueenElizabethI #birthday

You mean the sidebar? It shows up on the right side of every page, unless you're on a vertical screen when it follows below the post/s. The entry looks like this (although the links obv don't work in this screencap). Does this help? Heaven forfend you can't get there when you want to.

So the problem with my images not loading has to do with the browser I use to upload them? How bogus. Let's see whether the ball shoots when fired from another browser, or does the gun blow up in my face again.

Bluesky appears not to like the card image that was supposed to display with the URL. So here it is directly, assuming it loads.

One of the best verbs I ever came up with, in one of the best pentameter lines I ever came up with, and the compositor botched it. There is no second r in *incarnadine*. Bloody typo has annoyed me for 401 years.

(2 of 3) Excepting the corpse I had the worst of it, hence my subsequent poetic references to being lame. The wounds healed eventually but I was never free from the halt, and it ached like the devil whenever bad weather approached. [cont'd]

The new BBC Cromwell series. Bit before my time, but still, to see it done so gorgeously. Been waiting for it.

Mary Tudor’s submission to her father King Henry took place at King’s Place in Hackney. I lived there years later, editing my plays for the future. It was my last home.

New blog post: in 1560 a Frenchman presented Queen Elizabeth with an illustrated manuscript of strange tales, dedicated to her. She was not amused.

I updated an old poem by Ovid that I first translated when I was a teenager (don’t let Uncle Arthur fool you). It’s at a bunch of Amazons, with links and details in the blog post. So new the ink's still wet.

Happy 510th Birthday to Sir Thomas Smith, the brilliant scholar, statesman, diplomat, and educator. It is no exaggeration to say that Shake-Speare would not have existed without him. I will have more to say about Sir Thomas, soon.
