i love the creatives at square enix but the amount of times there have been subtle jabs in interviews talking about how much the corporate aspect is involved in the creative process. ONLY include things that are marketable. in fact, if its not marketable enough, we're going to tell you What to add

i dont care what your thoughts on ff15 or any project hajime tabata had a direct link to are. but tabata got literal death threats thrown his way over ff15 being delayed and square enix didnt really do shit to protect him. people were mad that the other dlcs werent happening. frankly? good

is so ass lmfao. this isnt a New square enix issue but i am exhauted of seeing creativity stifled to this degree. square enix has been Single-Mindedly focused on revenue and profit for several years. this is but another example of that. and its saddening

but frankly it speaks to a larger issue AAA studios in general. where if a game Cannot meet astronomical profit margins it should simply not exist at all. and square enix's massive, sweeping moves to cancel numerous, NUMEROUS projects simply because its drawing attention from whats "important"

i also like that like. oversexualization of women isnt as much of a running theme. theres not really any big arcs in the main story or Bits in the main story talking excessively about a womans body. and the women in dqx are treated with a lot of respect

like they have a scene in 4.2 that fans (wrongfully) meme on that is treated with completely seriously exhibiting a war dance that kind of echoes ones found in the real world. these things are treated with a whole hell of a lot more tact than they would be in most of the other games
