You might need to follow me back to dm? Unsure lol. I get the frustration. I used to deal a lot with drug abuse (surprise...) and having people be so negative on those that abuse has caused a lot of problems. Then trying to understand, why moods seem to be so.... variable?

I believe a lot of banks (not majority) have swapped to a newer quicker method. But like anything large ecosystem based, it takes time for adoption
August 8, 2025 at 3:23 AM
Yeah its mostly due to a legacy system which predates a lot of modern infrastructure. So transaction verification requires request of fund availability, approval of fund availability, and then transfer of fund availability. Which, if I recall, was a normal 3 day process min

I dont fully understand the financial system, I just know some charges can take a bit to show up, depending on the chargee and the charger. Like a gas station will verify you have a dollar in your bank to charge, but the actual used amount may take 3+days to show.

You can generate a onetime use card, or price locked card that limits transactions easily. I do this for a lot of accounts. It can be a pita, but for accounts you use once every year, it limits that attack vector

Either way, he should identify the payment method, and if card, get then tonteplace it immediately, and notify them of the possible malicious charge. In future instances, I'd recommend using something like privacy.com (I think most credit cards offer something similar)
Virtual Cards That Protect Your Payments | Online Payment Security
Protect your payment security. Shield your financial information and protect against credit and debit card fraud with secure, randomly-generated virtual card numbers.

This sounds like that, so he should figure out what payment info he had attached to this account, and inform them immediately. Charges don't always show up right away. Bank account transfers take days, debit cards too, credit cards are usually quicker.

This then makes it harder to notice the legitimate order email, and decreases the chances of catching and stopping it

Okay. So depends on the amount. One tactics is, hacker gains access to a purchase account, and they change the ship address. They will sign you up for 100s of newsletters or spam, and order an item from that account.

I think they seem to vary based on languages. HelloTalk was a good one that's popular with Asian languages. Tandem i always struggled to find a partner but seemed more call focused.
