Last week, Congress approved $1.1 billion in funding cuts for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting for fiscal years 2026-2027. As a result, Nebraska Public Media is losing up to 16% of its annual budget.

It became apparent last summer that some bur oak trees at Mahoney State Park were in trouble. Dozens started dying, and the problem has only gotten worse.
