Last night, eight Dem. and Ind. senators voted with Republicans to end the government.

Three of them were from northern New England, and helped broker the deal: Maggie Hassan (D-NH), Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH), and Angus King (I-ME).

Drastic cuts to SNAP benefits take effect on Nov. 1.

Families in CT, MA, and RI will lose $180/month to buy food, among nation’s steepest cuts.

Despite making up 4.5% of the U.S. population, 12% of the nation’s No Kings 2.0 protests occurred in New England.

At least 301 rallies were held across the region (per nokings.org). Here's the rally count by state in descending order:

MA: 132 (MoE ± 10)
VT: 50 (MoE ± 5)
CT: 40
ME: 37
NH: 32
RI: 10
