Last but not least, my Steinberger Spirit, a six string electric with a mottled blue paint job. It's a similar model Rufus gifts Bill and Ted at the end of the first film, these guitars are wonderfully scifi to me! Awaiting a GK2 upgrade so it'll be a synth too and sound like the future as well!

The bass is an Ibanaz Mikro, it's a short scale four string and goes by the name Amber. I bought it expecting it to look as you see it now, the paint on the body was thick enough you couldn't see the grain though so I immediately took it to Reading Hackspace and stripped it back.

For those curious, this is my heavily modified mid-90s Yamaha Pacifica, named Prescilla after a friend misread it's name!

It has been upgraded with a Seymore Duncan 59 Hybrid humbucker and pair of Vintage Hot Stack Plus singles. This is wired through a 10-way switch to give lots of combinations

Two on my three guitars are on the wall, the third requires a magic trick... First prototype works with caveats, already have a bunch of improvements in mind that'll do the trick.

Tx and Rx connectors, photos of all the knobs and dials. I suspect it's ultrasonic but for scanning metal joints or similar?

Saved from the "to be scrapped" pile at Reading Hackspace years ago, no idea what it does but looked too cool to not save. Apparently an Ultrasonoscope mk12, I can't find details online. Worst case it'll be the perfect enclosure for a mad project at some point. If anyone has info, please share!

An apt way to get this notification too! 🤣

Welcome back online old friend, and thank you @ericmigi.com for not giving up!

40% battery though, I may have to recharge some time in the next week...

They nailed it with the Lack, hopefully there will be a 10" option in their catalogue somewhere

More work on The Luggage, turns out a 22L Really Useful Box fits perfectly in the electronics bay...

Hello Bluesky, it's been a while though I've not been idle. Close to getting The Luggage v2 running, this time with suspension! Also working on a "virtual lidar" that combines a number of sensors with blindspots in to a datastream that's continous. If you like big bots, stay tuned!

My grandma was blind and taught me the basics of reading and typing in Braille when I was a kid, those typewriters have a 9 key keyboard and reminded me of this. I can't remember it now but I'm certain I'm a better touch typer because of it

Last night the episode of #TouringToolshed featuring me and #nefive aired on BBC Two! It's available on iPlayer if you wanted to give it a watch :)

Spannerbot, helped retrieve a lost spanner 😅
January 15, 2024 at 11:57 AM
Fast forward to today, we have success! I'll put together a video and share the link here to go in to details of the whole debacle but for now, I can rest 😅

I had a problem with the boom arm, the problem was me... I designed the boom arm to attached directly to the servo, leather than to a servo horn. When the robot tried to do a pushup it scrubbed the splines and failed... Easy fix, and I'll never do that again. Right? Yeah, probably not...

Tomorrow, we roll out.

TARGET ACQUIRED! 🤣
December 28, 2023 at 3:11 PM
Just finished a celebratory cuppa, I finally found a missing 13mm spanner that I lost just before EMF 2022! Dropped through a gap in my workshop floor, I had to build a robot to go on recon! 🤣

"Had to" is doing a lot of heavy lifting here...
December 28, 2023 at 3:10 PM
Wrote a simple #Unity3d game to control the robot from my Steam Deck, including switching on and off the head lights!

I've upgraded the tyres to a set used on #nefive at PiWars 2022, definitely improved clearance and grip on the rubble. Also replaced the IR camera with colour and a lamp. The IR was great for visibility but showed everything red for obvious reasons. More improvements already in progress, stay tuned!

Hey bluesky, you didn't exist when I started this project so let's bring you up to speed...

Mid 2023 I dropped a spanner that fell through a gap under my workshop floor. Last Christmas I decided to build a reccye robot, because I'm me and there's no cure...

It runs on a @raspberrypi.bsky.social

Hello bluesky! I build robots and like cats so this seems to be an excellent choice for my first post...

Robot is NE-FIVE, the cat is one of our rescue cats, Lottie!
