There are a lot of specific tasks at which foundation models are great for: coding, data science, deep research, synthesis and summarization, translation, multi modal generation and interaction, etc. It's not the answer to every question (like the tech bros claim) nor is it useless.

I watched the fire burn right up to the edge of our neighborhood (Westridge) this morning before the helicopters beat it back. Very surreal to watch it on TV.
