Proud queer, based in Vancouver, BC (unceded Coast Salish territory). My politics are best described as eco-left. I will definitely also be posting about pop culture and urbanism, and will certainly be engaging in general nihilism. They/them, please.
I knew it!

Yeah... I was being a bit facetious, but I'm pretty sure I'm not signing up for any new cards soon, and will start cutting some existing ones. One at a time though, given how many hours it takes to close a single fucking account.

I'm this close to just using American Express for everything and refusing to shop at places that don't accept it.

Was my phone insecure before I had the ability to apply a Wicked: For Good theme to it?

My argument is that we do need trains to downtown from the airport and it's ridiculous that they short-turn trains at Bridgeport from YVR so they can pretend there is frequent service from YVR when in reality the service to downtown is half-hourly at best.

At 11pm? From the airport? And enough of them to justify a service that exclusively serves that route rather than, say, actually going to the city?
November 14, 2025 at 5:28 PM
There are no ferries that could be reasonably caught at this hour though.

There's always track maintenance! Literally every time I take the train from YVR this configuration is happening.

Mostly the Zipcar driver was to blame but @communauto.bsky.social's default guidance is basically to find a parking spot that doesn't exist. Has anyone ever found permit-only residential street parking by Roy Thomson Hall?? I had to call multiple times and ended up North of Queen Street.

This trip ended up coming to $334 including gas, $60 less than the cheapest car rental which never includes gas. Unfortunately, it also came with more than half an hour of driving around to find parking after some asshole parked a Zipcar in the Communauto spot.

Call me naïve, or maybe a commie, but we can have both. This is what taxes are for.

I must admit, though, that having watched the entirety of Umbrella Academy earlier this year my real life memories are now clouded by memories of things that happened on that show which was filmed here.

I've also missed living in a city where jaywalking is normalised and relatively safe to do. As much as one way streets have their problems, at least they're predictable.

It always amazes me that this block, in particular, has been under redevelopment since at least 2005. I remember living kitty corner to it while they were loudly doing the early demolition.

I always feel a weird sense of nostalgia here. So many formative memories, so many firsts, so many lasts. It was only two years, plus many prior and subsequent visits, but this city will always be a part of me, even if I have long since become not a part of it.

Lol! But now there's a thousand Murder She Wrotes on TV!
