You make a very important point, especially about air travel's impact on greenhouse gases, and the current political climate. I would like to see my scientific societies have frequent, online subgroup meetings as well an online annual meeting.

Many scientists have teaching/research jobs at universities or colleges that enable them to do science without extramural funding. I am one of them. Do look me up on PubMed!

Yes, another rite of passage for the President to be accepted into the Imperial Dictatorship Triumvirate. I hear it is pretty lonely up there!

I wonder when these completely insensitive white supremacists are going to self-deport to the white lands they came from?

Unless the "order" changes, this may be an opportune time for NIH to implement the system I have proposed at f1000research.com/articles/11-.... This system allows for large projects, but also provides 80,000 grants limited to $400K per year for 10 years with half the NIH budget.

So now you know not to trust any Republican's words, until they act, for example by impeaching and removing Trump and Vance from office!

A lot of scientists do research with minimal funding from their institutions (like me, for example). How do you think all the "preliminary data" that scientists need to sell NIH to get their grants are funded? Just look at the success rates of both NIH and NSF? The "unsuccess" rate is 85%!

Thank you for sharing your story. I hope that among all the people/scientists reading this, there will be some who might have some funds, say from industry or a foundation (or eventually from NSF or NIH), to help you further your career.
