Where this logic falls flat is online, where you have private firms request a video from you to prove your age, which is much more intrusive than a smart card (like the German ID) that can prove your age cryptographically without sending any additional information or contacting authorities.

I always found that brick argument unconvincing because I live in a brick house and don’t have that problem.
Where I do have that problem is in the (uninsulated) shed, so my guess is that English buildings are just built flawed somehow.
