In Canada if paying cash we round to whatever 5 cent mark is closest. So if item is $1.97, then in cash you pay $1.95. If item is $1.98, then you'd pay $2 cash. Idea is it kinda works out, and honestly no one thinks about it much. But most don't use cash anymore anyway.
