I am a fiercely independent traveler that loves music, beer, wine, whiskey, Jeeps, hiking, climbing, all things North and South Carolina, and the company of strangers that have a good story to tell.
I don’t know how many times that I’ve heard “Don’t You” by Simple Minds over the past 38 years, but some how it evades the traditional aging process that songs undergo.

Haven’t been on here in a few weeks. Here to remind you that I’m still traveling around NC, listening to great music, and drinking beer.

I should go to bed, but I’ve decided to plot my day off tomorrow. Idle hands, something something…

Drinking whiskey inspires me. Or maybe it’s the ‘Beaucoup Fish’ CD that I’m listening to.

You decide.

Doing some field work somewhere near Pine Level, North Carolina.

Admiring the lush greens and bright BlueSky before the impending storms come and wreck it all later today.

Soundtrack for the moment is “Every Day Like The Last,” the beautiful new album from Wye Oak.

Not that anyone asked, but this is me.

But I’ll ask: who are you?

Todays nomadic journey took me through the towns of Rocky Mount, Nashville and Zebulon, North Carolina, soundtracked by the new Militarie Gun, Soft Moon EP, and a Bettie Seveert reissue.

Found my way to Tobacco Road Brewing to enjoy some well deserved libations.

In my travels, I stumble across really ugly works of art that fascinate me. This is in Durham, NC, but it could be anywhere because these are everywhere.

Inevitably, during my study of how this could be aesthetically pleasing, I always arrive at the same conclusion:

I want to climb it.

My view at Brewery Bhavana, Raleigh, North Carolina.

That’s a lot of taps. I guess I’m going to have to come back to try them all.

Listening to Big Thief’s “Dragon New Warm Mountain I Believe In You” while touring this city seems wildly appropriate.

Or inappropriately disconnected. You decide.

The entrance to The Pour House, Raleigh, NC.

Vinyl and beer ahead.

I’m excited.

Crank Arm Brewing.

The energy here is fantastic.

Huge Pride vibes and positive energy.

This place is packed and everyone is having a good time.

Right where I want to be.

Good beer. Good people. The soul of North Carolina has a good heart.

I love Raleigh. I could make this town my home.

Half-pint…Saturday night.

Cheers to my new friends!

Alone at a bar in Cary, NC.

Being in Cary is unusual. Being alone isn’t.

Perpetually roaming. Drinking. Seeing. Hearing. Socializing. Taking it all in.

We are only given a certain amount of spins around the Sun.

Make the best of it.

I am a daydrinking fool. And a sucker for flights.

Fuquay-Varina, NC has just slid in to my top 25 must-see towns to visit. Great atmosphere, friendly people, cool businesses, chill vibe.

Currently soundtracked by Meshell Ndegeocello’s “The Omnichord Real Book,” released yesterday.

Wandering around my home state, with the top off the Jeep. With the new Deer Tick album as my soundtrack, I stumbled across Aviator Brewing in Fuquay-Varina, NC.

Cozied up to a pint, ordered a burger, and going to watch some Norway Vs Scotland football at the outdoor bar.

I’m such a vagabond.

About 1/4 way through this. It’s not great, but scratches the proverbial itch. Moving on to “Under the Big Black Sun: A Personal History of L.A.Punk” by John Doe (and friends) when I finish.

Wherever I may roam, NC is my playground.

Finding BlueSky in Grifton, North Carolina.
