CCB was always a respectable foe back in the day. Their 80’s ads had a jingle “CCB, We’ll help you find a way”. Solid stuff from Central Carolina Bank as always.

Fed will consider Exchange, NCNB merger Wednesday The application of North Carolina-based NCNB Corp. to acquire Exchange Bancorporation Inc. for $134 million and then merge its North Carolina and Florida bank divisions will be considered by the Federal Reserve Board Wednesday. The application was scheduled yesterday for consideration but was pulled just prior to the Fed's meeting and rescheduled for Wednesday. The Fed's action was being withheld until the Comptroller of the Currency approved the application of Exchange to merge its 11 banks into one national bank - Exchange National Bank of Tampa. " Using a loophole in the state's banking laws while taking advantage of a favorable climate at the federal level toward interstate banking, NCNB Corp. has used its ownership of the Trust Company of Florida to acquire the First National Bank of Lake City and Gulfstream Banks Inc. of Boca Raton.
