Her move to Nottinghamshire in 1970 sparked her interest in the coal industry, leading to powerful depictions of mining life.

In the 1990s, Arnfield focused on the decline of the coal industry, with British Coal sponsoring her exhibition Coal Mining in Nottinghamshire - a Tribute 1994. (2/4)
