From November 13-19 we recognize Transgender Awareness Week - a time to especially focus on understanding trans people and the issues that this community faces. On November 20 we mourn our trans siblings lost due to violence and discrimination.

Today SCOTUS did the right thing by denying review of a case that sought to challenge the freedom to marry for same-sex couples. It’s a major relief for so many in the LGBTQ+ community, who have seen relentless attacks on their dignity and equality in recent years.

As many people are left wondering how they are going to feed themselves and their families, local restaurants and mutual aid networks are stepping up to make sure their communities stay fed.

On November 1st, about 42 million people will loose their SNAP benefits because of the government shut down and USDA’s refusal to use available emergency funding. This will leave leaving many families, elderly, and low income folks at risk of hunger and food insecurity.
