Between agitation and nausea/vomiting, olanzapine has a wide range of use.

Olanzapine is generally not a front-line agent (e.g., haloperidol or ondansetron often are). But sometimes, it really comes in clutch....

Phenobarb in EtOH w/d
-Augments GABA, inhibits glutamate
-Option 1: no BZD given. 10 mg/kg IV over 30 min. Can redose 2-3 times
-Option 2: BZD given. Load 130 mg IV q15 until sedation
-Early phenobarbital use can avoid intubation + general anesthesia
