Unfortunately, ticks love a warm fall as much as we do.

Black-legged ticks can spread Lyme disease to humans. They are found in the wooded and brushy areas of our region like the Greenbelt.

Repaired trails are happy trails!

We’ve fixed Trail 31 and its footbridge in the Pinhey Forest area of the Greenbelt.

Rediscover this trail through an open red pine forest with patches of oak and trembling aspen.

Their home base is across the National Capital Region and eastern Canada. Keep an eye out for them in oak forests, where these tenacious birds hide acorns for winter.

Next up to the plate in our wildlife spotlight: the blue jay!

These tough, territorial corvids will call loudly, strike, and chase predators.

They steal from other nests, but are vulnerable when exposed in the field, due to their slow flying speeds.

The area features over 20 km of scenic trails to enjoy, beyond the well-known boardwalk that’s especially popular at this time of year.

For a quieter visit, try coming early in the morning, on weekdays or in the evening.

Volunteers helped prevent a sticky situation.

Our Board of Directors has approved the 66% Developed Design for the new main building of the Ottawa Hospital’s future campus:
