Ceding the rights of trans people to be in public, to get healthcare in the name of compromise is ceding more ground on the path to losing your own human status under this regime.

They have already said immigrants are illegal, no matter their status. They have easily, gleefully, stripped humanity from so many people. You should care about trans people bc they will not be the last class of people to be denied humanity.

To be clear, I am terrified for my kid’s life. I look at what is happening in DC and LA. I look at the damage being done to science. I look at the disregard for humanity, law, process, & the detention camps & fear we are close to rounding up trans people, queer people, too.

Every day I can give my kid sheltered space to learn about themself, to become who they need to be w/out interference is vital. Every day they get stronger. I hope to send a whole, loved, solid human into this world. This kid will need Kevlar skin & a whole, abundant heart.

I am constantly concerned about data. I am terrified that the laws that protect confidentiality will be violated. I am afraid to speak about our experience in public bc I do not want my kid to be a target. I am trying my damndest to protect their options & privacy as long as possible.

We’re lucky in a lot of ways, so this probably has been easier than for some families. It’s still fraught. We can’t even get our rx filled in our home state, even tho these hormones are dispensed for all kinds of things. Even tho our kid could get married to an adult in this state.

My kid has been out for 5 years, but only more recently felt ready to ask for hormones. It took us a few months to get through the logistical maze to access them.
