Reading up on MN transpo stuff and came across this series from editorial writer Steve Berg the Strib ran back in 2002. Lots of talk of induced demand, freeway blight, etc

In reading and learning more about the Minnesota State Capitol for return-to-office stories and now security concerns, I was curious how the built environment around the cap has changed over the years.

Folks, it's a lot.

Good morning! I’m the new guy at @startribune.com where I’ll be covering politics.

I grew up in MN/WI but spent the last decade in Denver writing about transportation and other stuff for @cprnews.bsky.social

Someone egged a cybertruck in Denver’s Capitol Hill neighborhood and wrote “nazi” and drew swastikas on it

If this is your illegally parked BMW in Denver’s Cap Hill, know that this King Soops truck driver is really really unhappy with you

"Mayday, mayday!" -- I tracked down the ATC audio from yesterday's American Airlines fire at DIA, and put together a quick timeline of what happened and when.

Here's a chart of SE corridor light rail ridership I maintain. The E and H lines were starting to recover from the pandemic before slow zone work starting last summer did a number on 'em.

Picked up this beauty off the side of the road in my neighborhood the other day. It spins and has a lovely warm sound, but then starts warbling as the record plays.

It’s also missing a few parts, as you can probably see. Worth tinkering with?

The bill largely tracks with what we heard from the sponsors before the session started, with a focus on requiring RTD to maximize ridership growth and a few other things.

But it does dip into governance a bit (the proposed board overhaul sunk last year's bill).

I asked DOTI if they are planning to remove a bus lane on 15th, and after initially saying yes they walked that back today. Here’s an email from DOTI Spox Nancy Kuhn:

This is from a few weeks ago now, but @ryanhasaquestion.bsky.social had an interesting back-and-forth with DEN CEO Phil Washington about the possible expansion of Peña Boulevard: www.cpr.org/2024/12/23/i...

Handy map from CDOT on how its recommended alternative would change Federal Boulevard for BRT. Not sure if it's new new, but I haven't seen it before.
