Withdrawn February 1987. I didn't know at the time, but I saw it at Crewe station on its final journey into the Works.
One cab did survive for a while after scrapping until it 'disappeared'. Rumour is it was nicked for scrap!

Ironically, local businesses (Bet365 for example), are now saying local transpot links are poor (the A50 especially) and perhaps a station would be useful!

Ironically, local businesses (Bet365 for example), are now saying local transpot links are poor (the A50 especially) and perhaps a station would be useful!
The reasons for closure were the low passenger numbers (because Central Trains ran the service down to next to useless) and so the expresses could travel faster (I'm not sure how much speed would have been gained due to the station's proximity to Stoke)!
