Yes I shamelessly ripped off NGL except for all the monetisation and tracking stuff, no I will not be apologizing for making free software.

You can change the style or just go text only if you want! 😃

I thought about this approach as well. The biggest risk would be harassment and ToS breaking content. If someone sends ToS breaking content to someone's inbox, well suddenly the group identity is going to get banned and the service is gone for everyone. But I agree with the spirit of it.

Definitely a possibility. But for larger pieces of data, it might be an issue. I'll keep an eye out on it.

That could be possible, but tricky in terms of storing peoples' keys in a centralized location. Any time someone access someone's inbox, the app would initialise a connection to their PDS and make authenticated requests. I initially tried this idea but couldn't get authentication right.

I think the biggest challenge at a protocol level is storage. How does an anonymous user write to someone's personal repo without authentication? How is that data stored and read by a client? I think there would need to be some changes to the protocol itself before a perfect solution can be found.

(its within the settings page!)

I agree, the app needs an accessibility pass throughout it there's a ton of low contrast text. Once I have time I'll try and give it some love!

I'll also reduce the strength of the WAF bot/spam checks while the talk occurs to make things faster.

The app wasn't really designed with real time Q/A in mind. However, what you could do is tail your PDS with navyfragen.app open in the background and look for "app.navyfragen.message" lexicon records. The app should push any messages you receive to the PDS every time you refresh the page.

that's odd, it shouldn't be closing the tab, I couldn't reproduce the issue but I'll let you know!

Of course! Stoked to see it! ☺️

Just as a heads up, there is NO tracking data within the app. I am just following along the alt-text of the generated images via this feed here: bsky.app/profile/kara...
