Mike - Towards a Metric America!
@navigatorbr.bsky.social
An American who fights for British Rail.

Also big on manga/anime.

He/Him
A movie that takes place where you're from

I still can't believe this thing is set in Cleveland.

I remember finding out from @cinematicexcrement.com's project reviewing all the Razzies winners.

What about the Custom Finishing's kits for a tracked crawler/dozer and side boom pipelayer?

(Walthers Part No. 247-7070 and 247-7274)

(Or were you trying to avoid building those kits?)

I often think back to this passage in a 1999 DOJ study on school security; where they talk about a Sandia National Labs study that found even motivated people struggle to stay on task monitoring security cameras where nothing is happening.

So, I was looking for an argument I got in on Twitter, via my archive- Not important... I stumbled upon this old Tweet.

I got an email TODAY from this VN project, the first update in 2 years.

(I have NO idea what I was referring to, but I'll stand by the VN as a better use of $25.)

And there were the E units with red/white striped nose, that lasted into the 1990s with Metra and MARC.

"What the hell is this?"

What the hell is this expression?

Going to be honest, shocked to find out this sign at New Scotland Yard is this (1972) old.

This seems like some shit they would have done in the like 90s.

(Also VLC did NOT like trying to screenshot this. Crashed twice. Actually shocked I got a screenshot.)

I also love the effect, you don't get shit like this anymore, which fair, but also, look at this:

Alright, bustin' out the overhead projector and transparencies.

Pretty sure I have video of what the numbers were saying about the economy...

Also the first window's wrong. That's a passenger seat window. Driver's window's is a side sliding window.

(That said, if this was set in the 1990s and they fixed that window, they did hell of a job. Even the way the little marker lamps look.)

Me turning on MSNBC, and discovering that apparently the fucking Senate is voting on something right now, and it sounds like they're voting on dogshit.

Third time the charm?

We have an update from the game, Strong Bad has come away with the Ford Bronco.

He is happy, but somewhat unclear what he's supposed to do with it.
November 6, 2025 at 6:27 AM
I made this at like 2:30 am last night, as I was explaining to a buddy about how MSNBC was becoming MS NOW in about a week.

I was disappointed it wasn't also Wales, but I also told off the other founder on Twitter in 2022 after he said something that was a 'thank fuck he's not in charge' bad.

(Don't recall what, and I long since trashed my Twitter, so I have no easy way of looking.)

Every time Jimmy Wales is in the news:

What'd you do today?

Took photos of various things near me for uploading to Wikipedia, including an 'Fire Department Connection' (FDC) sign, to try and further expand our photo coverage of this.
November 3, 2025 at 3:45 AM
I read this and I instantly dropped what I was doing to make this incredible niche joke...
November 2, 2025 at 3:58 AM
WHAT A BULLSHIT ENDING.

That dead ball call was fucking bullshit.

Fuckin' player didn't want to pick up the ball off the ground.

So incredibly, we have created a signal where if a driver should stop & stay or stop & proceed is indicated by identical aspects and the difference is dictated by a sign.

Incredible design work.
October 30, 2025 at 4:47 PM
It gets better, this signal design is also being pushed for use at fire stations, as a standardized solution to that need, to replace the absolutely haphazard number of signal designs used.

Here the red lights alternating flash when a fire truck is leaving and traffic must stop and stay.
October 30, 2025 at 4:47 PM
There's a specific prohibition against alternating red lights to emphasize stop signs because of the risk of this confusion with railroad crossings.

If placed in a horizontal pair, they must flash as a pair, not alternating.
October 30, 2025 at 4:47 PM
The reason we're this absolute fucking shitshow right now could be best summed up by "...but no action was ever taken."

The problems were obvious.
The solutions were obvious.

But no action was ever taken...
