Don't want to spoil much but yes. At least from my experience playing it with a screen available in order to fully draw on combat was way better (and faster) than doing it by joystick.

Okami! One of the best games ever. Also the combat system is pretty neat, I've enjoyed it the most on Wii and Switch. Be mindful if you play on a console with only a joystick because mechanics may become a bit orthopedic. Have fun!
