My first (and first-author) paper investigating how Arabidopsis AUGMIN8 interacts with microtubules is now available online in @cytoskeljournal.bsky.social! I'm incredibly grateful to have performed this work as an undergrad and postbac in Sidney Shaw's lab at IUB. doi.org/10.1002/cm.7...
Arabidopsis AUGMIN8 Contains Two Independent Microtubule Association Domains
Plant cells create a plasma membrane-associated network of microtubules that are nucleated by γ-tubulin ring complexes primarily through microtubule-dependent microtubule nucleation (MDMN). This dyna...

How a humble weed became a superstar of biology
Arabidopsis thaliana was always an unlikely candidate for the limelight. But 25 years ago, the diminutive thale cress launched the botanical world into the molecular era.

An article on Model Organisms, published in Science in 2005, lists the Models that together represent "the diversity of life".
Guess which model is missing from the list?

This view is one major reason why it's so difficult to obtain funding for basic plant research.

Thank you– it was a pleasure speaking with you! This is my first TCM, and I'm having a great time meeting the community.
@tricytomeet.bsky.social continued with a lively poster session. I particularly liked the presentation by Naveen Chana, about work in Sid Shaw's IU lab on the plant augmin complex & microtubule regulation. She's now a PhD student in Joe Kieber's lab at UNC
