It's hard to believe, but our Sept cohort is now finished with their first year of our distance-learning MA. They are such a great bunch to work with! We're now looking forward to hearing about their ideas for their dissertations! #NavalHistory #MaritimeHistory #CoastalHIstory

A busy week for our team! Dr Matthew Heaslip will be presenting at Portsmouth's Royal Navy Officer's Association. He's doing some great work on the RN and Estonian independence. Dr Cathryn Pearce is presenting on the wreck of HMS Brazen in 1800 for the Newhaven Historical Society! #NavalHistory

BOOK CONTRACT SIGNED - China's 1927 Crisis - with Penguin Random House. I am humbled that my proposal was supported by Profs. Richard Overy and Robert Bickers and I am incredibly grateful for their guidance. Thanks also to Cathryn Pearce for her constant encouragement and Richard Toye for his insightful comments, including the alternative working title: World War 1 1/2! Now time to start finishing chapters so it can be published in time for the 100th anniversary. I can only hope that the final book will live up to the proposal reviews: 'Highly original and challenging' re-assessment of the 'year which made the modern world'.
