Although I think they were motivated by spite rather than deliberate calculation, the House GOP has successfully managed to throw away their steering wheel during a high stakes game of chicken, both increasing their bargaining leverage if they can decide what they want. Schelling would be proud.

Also electric cars use a lot of energy to move single drivers around short distances. If we are going to mitigate climate change we need a mix of vehicles & corresponding incentives
